Chivas Regal Mizunara Whisky
Chivas Regal Mizunara Whisky Special Edition is a Japanese-inspired Scottish whiskey. It is made by Master Blender Colin Scott regarding the Japanese floor. Part of the mixture matures in Japanese Mizunara barrels. Mizunara is a Japanese oak and is used to age Japanese whiskey, such as Suntory’s Yamazaki Single Malt. It is the first time that Scotch whiskey matures in Japanese wood! It is the east meets the west in a bottle. With a proud heritage dating back to the 1950s, Chivas Regal brings out Scottish whiskey exquisitely made in Scotland but selectively finished in a Japanese oak barrel from Mizunara.

Mizunara is a kind of oak, originating from Japan, Hokkaido and known for its high moisture content. Oak is the portmanteau of Mizu and Nara. In Japanese, Mizu means water, while Nara means oak. Due to its rarity, Mizunara leads to a considerably higher market price in comparison with other typical oak barrels used in the maturing of whiskey. It is also rich in vanillin, the organic and primary compound that forms vanilla. Combined with the fact that in Japan, where traditions dictate that Mizunara can be made in barrels when the oak itself is at least 200 years old, the connection between Chivas, famous for its generous flavor profile, and the venerable Japanese oak, connoisseurs require whiskey on a sensual journey that will delight both the palate and the sense of smell. Whiskey made from a mixture of malt and grain whiskey is a feast for the eyes with a shimmering warm amber tone.

Chivas Regal calls Strathisla distillery in Speyside, Scotland, where he is at home. There, Master Distiller Colin Scott, who has more than 40 years of industrial experience, continues the tradition of Chivas Brothers that began almost two centuries ago. To create a smooth signature from Chivas Regal, Scott combines the only malt whiskey produced in Strathisla with dozens of other individual malts and finally makes a Scottish amount that is greater than the sum of his parts. Chivas Master Distiller Colin Scott decided to mix a full range of whiskey with Japanese oak Mizunara for aging. This luxurious wood has made Japanese whiskey into a world-famous and highly sought-after spirit.
